Step 1: Figeac, City of Art and History

Reach Figeac easily by train from Toulouse, Brive, Paris, or Rodez.The station is just a short walk from the town center.

From the town center, head to the bus station and hop on liO 889 bus. In just 20 minutes, you’ll arrive in Frontenac, only 500 meters from the Hameau du Quercy.

Step 2: Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Cliffside Wonder

The next day, set off for Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. From Frontenac, take the bus to Tour-de-Faure, then choose your route:

• Walk: a scenic 2 km stroll (about 25 minutes)

• Bike: rentals available at Tour-de-Faure (Les vélos de Saint-Cirq) 

• Bus: line 878 gets you there in just 8 minutes

Perched 100 meters above the Lot River, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie boasts 13 historic monuments. Voted “France’s Favorite Village” in 2012, it’s one of the most beautiful villages in the country and a must-see in the Lot Valley.

For hikers: arrive via the dramatic Bouziès towpath (4 km). Get off at “Bouziès Pont,” cross the suspension bridge, and follow the river to the famous cliff-carved path leading up to the village. A truly unforgettable entrance.

Step 3: Pech Merle Cave, Prehistoric Marvel

To visit the renowned Pech Merle cave in Cabrerets, get off at “Conduché” and follow the GR 651 trail for a 1h15 walk. Alternatively, take a taxi from Tour-de-Faure or Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, or rent a bike (10 km ride from Tour-de-Faure).
Inside, discover ancient cave paintings and a journey through time.
